The upcoming elections will surely dictate the future of this country, dubbed as "Lupang Hinirang." Well, I'm not so much of a Politcs interested kind of guy, but the fad that once was the craze of most of us Filipinos, Movies, have been replaced by an interesting yet not at all very imaginative mode of entertainment (smiles), Campaign Elections.
In today's elections, there is only one woman candidate, and all the rest are males with their different egos and standards of commonality and soberness. Except for Eddie Gil... well do I have to explain that? (smiles). The candidates have never been more interesting, with these candidate/ personalities.
There is a palaban "Taray Queen," whose mere presence denotes a sense of assurance "Ipapaglaban ko kayo, pero Siyempre, Ako muna!"

So far I think that this is the best Campaign Elections yet. Now, the number of stars campaigning for their well paying candidates are abundant not to mention their magnanimity to earn every centavo of it. Today also, there are a lot of

NYAHAHA! i'M gahstly.
May kama ako, pero kasi, madaling ilatag ang kutson at mas malamig, and besides would you pass the opportunity to reacquaint yourself with the ipis that you orphaned the night before.
OLD SPICE all the way. Araw-arawin nyo na, para naman we could help mother earth.

Yesterday, I was able to watch Mona Lisa Smile. Yes, I also watch recent movies, but I did not enjoy it as watching the olden films do. The story is like that of Alice Dixon, I forgot the titile. The Story of Alice Dixon is about an English College Professor, who not only was able to teach Paco, Geneve, Dona, Ian, and Angelu about linguistic processes, but she also taught them to live.
Mona Lisa Smile, is somehow similar, although with this kind of theme, I can say that the JUlia Roberts Film is better. it is set in the 1950's, and Roberts teaches in a conservative and ultra-rigid school. The students are quite criticasl themselves, but eventually she won their heart and touched their lives, by seepin into their individual problems and experiences. It's a feel good movie, although she ends not gaining any certitude in the movie, she gains the prospect of preserving her self-proclaimed ideals.
One thing I did not like about the film is the over emphasis on the issue of Liberalism. I believe that an educational body should be thinkers, but not to the point wherein manners and morals would be sacrificed for the fulfillment of the advocacy that has not been thoroughly proclaimed as efficient.
As a sound educational body, schools should not only shun Liberalism but more so fight against it, alongside the many cohorts it attaches to itself. Truths on matters of ideals and faith, cetitudes on sacrifice and sorrow should be taught in a predispose supernatural level by us teachers. We should not adhere to the idiosyncrisies of the confused world, but rather we should be firm in our commitment to teach. AND TO TEACH WE SHALL, ABOUT COMPASSION, FAITH AND TRUTH!

Sorry for the sudden cut with the words. I actually intended this entry to be end with the first, but PROVIDETNIALLY, I think, the inspiration of making this a series came to being.
There are other Nora films that is more socially fitting than "Mercury Rising" or "The Ransom." Filipinos, are more fond of watching psychological, closely knitted, smooth flowing stories of Intrigue, malice and mystery with the apt sensibility. I mean is there any other Foreign Film that can match the darkness of "Ina ka ng Anak" which stars Lolita Rodriguez as the mistress of Philip Salvador and the mother of Nora Aunor. What's so dark about that, well, Nora is Lolita's daughter. sEE. Since family oriented films are intalks, I wish to make mention also of other films that makes use of the Filipino Family as a Background for the portrayal of so many and diversified themes of life and society.
The film Cain at Abel is very synanimous with the Biblical siblings of our first parents. It starred Cristopher De Leon and Philip Salvador, and both rendered a stunning performance, not to forget Mona Lisa as the Mother of the two. Both men fight for their mother's love and the properties and almost everything that they could lay their hands to, but one is always favored, Christopher. But the films ends with the reconciliation of the two.
To see the filipino maternal affection, we could find solace in the critically-acclaimed, "Insiang" and "Magdusa Ka." yes, I know, these are not good movies to find the maternal affection but they are worth watching for the upliftment of the artistic apprecitiation, well, not quite, but for the beauty of it, it's somehow worth. Although if I were to choose, I like "Magdusa ka" more than "Insiang." Insiang is more critically acclaimed, but I like the story of Nida Blanca and Dina Bonnevie, it's more contemporary and beautiful.
But my most Favorite Family Movie is Mike De Leon's "Kisapmata," starring Vic Silayan, Charito Solis, Charos Santos, Jay Ilagan and Ruben Rustia. It's the darkest Film I ever watched. It's a story of Incest, although there were no obscene scenes nor any showing of flesh, the idea of incest was very evident. What I very much like about this is the fact that the director was thorough even to the most trivial detail. De Leon event went to the extent of arranging the dinner table and the people dining to emphasize the emphasis on the Father, Vic Silayan, wherein he patterns it to the ancient symbol of patriarchs which is the "Father's eye," yes like the "agimats" in Quiapo. I do not want to give a synopsis of this movie, I 'd rather have you watch it, it's very good and so are the other films... in our past....(twilight Zone)

Call me socially and cinematically outdated, but I seem to enjoy more of the Tagalog movies than the English and newly shown films. Sure the modern films of today are more visually enticing, but I think most of the people here would agree with me that Tagalog filsm, especially of Olden days are more intellectual and socially relevant.
I mean, what movie can go against the darkness of Bernal's HIMALA Or most evidently of Mike De Leon's ITIM, where issues of the unknown and mysterious is explored in a very intricate way, but HIMALA stands out more than ITIM, NOra gave an applauding performance in HIMALA and Tomy Abuel gave his outstanding performance in ITIM.
When it comes to romance, the Tagalog films of the 80's and the early 90's give the best interpretation of the word. Then you have Sharon and Robin in "Maging Sino Ka Man," and the unbeatable tandem of Maricel and William.
Psycological thrillers are definitely the Tagalog filmakers' fav. Aside from Abaya's KARNAL, starring Vic Silayan and Philip Salvador, there is also De Leon's Kisapmata.
things are quite different now, I'll continue later, the people are her are harrasing me.
